PhD Abstract

The aim of this research is to demonstrate the need for morphological analysis on informal settlements, understood as a contemporary variation of traditional compact environments, as a vehicle to social and human change, as well as a more sustainable and resilient environment.
I have recently completed a period of field survey in a shantytown on the outskirts of Lima (Peru, South America), during which it has been possible to collect data on the urban morphology and the political organization of the settlement in different periods of time.
