Graduated in Architecture at The IUAV of Venice. I am currently a Post Doc researcher at the Department of Urban Studies at Roma Tre University. In 2008 I got a Phd in Territorial policies and local project, in the same department. The dissertation dealt with processes of gentrification
I am interested in urban trasformationa and urban Theory. I studied neighborhood change in contemporary economy and gentrification in Rome and Brooklyn. Now I am developping a new research that consist in an empirical investigation of the forms of urbanity in a few newly built urban developments in Rome.
The research consists of an empirical investigation of the forms of urbanity in a few newly built urban developments in Rome. These projects are designed to encourage mix uses and facilities, yet have been accused of producing landscapes that discourage urbanity, meaning by this the “art of living together”. This claim is influenced by a nostalgic notion of urbanity, that lays upon a idealized view of the thriving life of central places. Despite the criticism, no empirical investigation has been made to understand the forms of urbanity developing in present time.
