PhD/Postdoctoral Research Title

Energy and cultural landscapes for future marginal areas: the potential landscape of the Valley of Leno, province of Trento, Italy

PhD Abstract

The aim of the thesis, as a tool for classification and reorganization of ideas, is to compose a puzzle of best practice of the settlement and good infrastructure for sustainable energy. That is to emphasize the potential that some mountain areas have and spare its capacity; thus also open to habitability reformed and perhaps undervalued to today: real potential emerging landscapes. Today we see forming a focus on sustainability, thanks to urban planning that reinterprets and always finds new research tools from other disciplines. Therefore the thesis aims to make an amalgamation of the vision of the landscape (natural and cultural) with the paradigm of sustainability for the urban renewal project area. Commonly, when referring to environmental sustainability, we reflect on the relationship between energy and material flows (production and waste). The thesis will add that we must take account of the relationship between energy, material flows and cultural heritage.
