He is responsible for coordinating the MSc Urbanism programme. He holds a bachelor’s degree in urban planning from HCU Hamburg, and a master’s degree in urban design from Cardiff University. Lukas is currently working on his doctoral dissertation investigating structural issues of interdisciplinarity for planning education. He is also involved in research on planning and design theory, regional development and planning as well as design methodology and its applicability for strategic urban and regional planning.
Urban planning and design education has become increasingly diversified since the introduction of the bachelor's/master's-system in Germany. As part of my research, I try to understand the drivers of this diversification process and search for deeper understanding of our discipline's cores and boundaries.
