The Habitats Directive invite Member States to maintain, develop or improve the ecological coherence of the Natura 2000 network, as recognition of the innovative role that elements of the landscape can take a function of ecological connection to the flora and fauna. The actual levels of human settlement of the territory involve the presence of a set of obstacles to ecological continuity. Through “ecological corridors”, planning, with the aim of conservation preserve or restore the links between fragmented populations and ecosystems, is an effective conceptual paradigm, able to define strategies for the conservation of biological diversity and ecological processes.
