I’m a PhD in Urban and territorial planning. After my PhD, for four years, I was professor of Urban design at the University of Naples Federico II and I won different research scholarships financed by university departments or private institutions or associations.
I worked as planner for the urban city plans of Gragnano, Cava dei Tirreni and Portici and as scientific co-ordinator for different projects on the subject of Participatory and communicative planning.
My first interest is the analysis of the urban development projects with specific attention at the management aspects, evaluating the relationships between the new growing quarters and the existing city from an urban, economic and social point of view, analysing public-private partnership instruments and their interaction with the general planning process, verifying any interactions between real estate market and urban development. The second interest aims at analysing how participatory and community planning can collaborate to the realization of urban city plans and transformation projects. It is supported by my active participation in many projects that involve Italian and foreign citizens.
The research aimed at analysing the relationship between public-private methods and instruments
for construction and urban development and urban plans. In particular were analysed the urban
plans and instruments (Urban development societies, project financing, Transfer Development
Right) of the cities of Naples, Rome, Milan and Paris.
In the framework of the PhD studies a three month research period was spent in Paris to investigate
and deepen the subject matter and, in particular, to analyse the new urban instruments introduced
by the national law Solidarité et Renouvellement Urbains. Research activities were done with the
supervision of prof. Pierre Micheloni at the Ecole d’Architecture de Paris La Villette, the Ecole
d’Architecture de Belville, the Centre de Documentation dell’Atelier Parisien d’Urbanisme (APUR),
the Centre de Documentation of the Ministère de l’Equipement.
