Planning and Environmental Assessment,
An implicit goal of environmental research is to analyse and assess the impact of human activities on the environment in order to minimize its negative effects. Loss of natural habitats and biodiversity, public health problems and global climate change are among results of unsustainable resource management. Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) has recently become a very important set of approaches and tools for a sustainable development of coastal areas. Integrated' in ICZM refers to the integration of objectives and also to the integration of many instruments needed to meet these objectives. Integration implies that all the relevant policy areas, sectors, and levels of administration have to be taken into account. This integration will be possible if there is a good institutional governance with different levels working together to achieve common goals.
