Dear YA member,

The ACSP (Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning in the United States of America) - Young academics group (similar to our AESOP YA) organizes some interesting events during their annual ACSP conference 2016 in Portland.

"Preparing for the Job Market" Workshop - Friday9:45am to 11:15am - Forum Suite

This workshop will feature a panel of active faculty members who will discuss how to navigate the job market and land that coveted tenure-track position. The panelists will cover topics such as networking to find open positions, assembling application materials, meeting with hiring committees, and negotiating salary and benefits. There will also be a general Q and A period for members of the audience to ask specific questions.

"Getting Your Work Published" Workshop - Saturday1:00pm to 2:25pm - Parlor B

This workshop will feature a panel of active faculty members who will offer advice on how to get work published in peer-reviewed journals. Panelists will discuss journal selection, working with co-authors, the revision/resubmission process, and techniques for turning a thesis, dissertation, or formal report into a journal-ready manuscript. There will also be a general Q and A period for members of the audience to ask specific questions.

Student Reception - Saturday7:30pm to 9:30pm - Rock Bottom Brewery

Join your fellow students for a catered reception at Rock Bottom Brewery in Downtown Portland. Drink tickets and an assortment of hot and chilled foods will be provided, including desserts and vegan options. The venue is located a few blocks away from the Hilton, and Aujean and James will be waiting in the lobby of the Hilton at 7:15pm to lead students over to the restaurant on foot. The student reception is an annual tradition at ACSP, and is a great chance to unwind and socialize with your fellow students at the end of the conference.

For more information, contact C. Augean Lee (aujean@ucla.edu) who is the ACPS student representative.
