  • February 14, 2014
The deadline for application and abstract submission is 28th February 2014

Applicant should complete the application form and submit this together with their abstract. The forms are available for download: http://www.congrexprojects.com/aesop/phd-workshop/applications

Abstracts should not exceed 500 words, and must follow the template provided.

The application form requires a statement of motivation that explains how you will benefit from participating in the workshop.

AESOP provides a limited number of bursaries to offset some costs for those who would not be able to attend for reasons of financial hardship. If you wish to apply for a bursary please make this clear in your motivation letter and explain the circumstances that make this necessary for your attendance.

Please note that there are always more applications than places and we are keen to ensure that we select those who are most likely to benefit. Because of the demand for places participants of previous workshops are not eligible to apply. Also, each year some candidates who are offered a place are not able to attend which denies a place to others. Please be sure that you are available for the date of the workshop and that you have the support of your department.

Application forms and abstracts should be emailed to Ana Maria Fernández Maldonado (A.M.FernandezMaldonado@tudelft.nl) The local organising committee and mentors will assess applicaitons.

You will be informed of our decision before 1 April 2014.

Successful applicants must submit a paper of about 6,000 words (excluding references) by 31 May, to Ana Maria Fernández Maldonado (A.M.FernandezMaldonado@tudelft.nl).

The paper will include an introduction, the aims of the research and what contribution it makes, an explanation of the main literature and theoretical sources, the methods you have or propose to use, an outline of any findings so far and a reflection on the key issues that you face in completing the research.

Participants will present their paper in small group sessions for about 30 minutes. The usual projection facilities will be available for slides.

Participants will also read and review the paper of one other member of the group, and provide a constructive criticism and questions. The reader will lead on the discussion with the mentor. The job of the reviewers is to consider the clarity of objectives and explanation of the research, the appropriateness of methods and the coherence of the research overall.

Successful applicants who want to attend the main congress will need to register through the AESOP online registration system. In case you are accepted to attend the PhD Workshop you will receive a special registration link for free registration for the AESOP 2014 congress. Application and registration for the PhD workshop is made directly to TU Delft as explained above.
