As a tradition at AESOP Young Academics Network conferences, each year one paper is awarded the best paper prize by an international journal. Taylor & Francis Journal of Urban Research and Practice will host the Award for this year. A Jury consisting of the Editor of the invited journal and the Chairs of the four sessions meet to collectively select the best paper.  The selection process is two parts. The Chair of each session will nominate the best session paper. After that, a Jury consisting of the Editor of URP, the Chairs of the four sessions and the president of AESOP will meet to collectively select the best conference paper out of the four nominated sessions’ papers. The selection will be based upon the paper ooriginality, methodology, critical discussion, scientific basis for argumentation, and writing quality.

After the conference, the Jury members will provide the author of the winning paper with feedback on how to improve the paper. The journal’s editor will work sympathetically with the author in order to qualify the paper for publication. The idea behind the Award is to encourage young academics towards publication in refereed journal and provide them with experiences in the authorship process. The winner will be announced at the conference closing dinner.
